Gears of war 2 game modes annex

Depending on the game mode, if the player takes too much damage, they will enter a downed state which they can crawl around the map to get out of battle and seek help; during this time, a fellow teammate can revive him, an enemy may brutally execute the downed player, or the player may bleed out if too much time has passed. The player can also grab a downed character and use them as a meatshield, allowing the body to absorb damage but forcing the playing to use a one-handed pistol.

The campaign mode in Gears of War 2 allows for a single player or two players playing cooperatively to complete the game's story mission as Marcus or Dominic. A new "Normal" difficulty was added between the game's "Casual" and "Hardcore" difficulties. There is also an 'Insane' difficulty which is unlocked after the player completes the game at least once. Players in co-op mode can select different difficulties, and a "communal combat system" will adjust the game's artificial intelligence to give both players a fair challenge.

The campaign features a deeper story with new characters, new weapons, and new enemies, according to John DiMaggio, the voice actor for Marcus Fenix. Gears of War 2 features an upgraded multiplayer mode that allows up to ten users to simultaneously play in teams of five-on-five.

Cameras in the multiplayer modes have also been improved significantly. Rather than static views from different points on a map, the new Battle Cam allows players to pan around a map as the camera focuses on areas of intense fighting, and the Ghost Cam allows a player to roam freely around a map. A photo mode is also featured, with each photo taken by a player rated on the amount of action in the shot and can be uploaded to the official Gears of War website.

Gears of War 2 takes place six months after the detonation of the Lightmass Bomb at the end of the first game. Though most of the underground army of the Locust Horde was destroyed, the explosion also caused much of the liquid Imulsion underground to vaporize, causing a fatal disease called Rustlung to spread among the diminished human population.

After months of peace, the cities of Tollen and Montevado suddenly and mysteriously disappear underground, leading the Coalition of Ordered Governments COG to suspect the resurgence of the Locust. In order to stop the fall of Jacinto, the COG responds with a large-scale counter-offensive against the Locust. Also returning in supporting roles are radio dispatcher Anya Stroud and senior officer Colonel Hoffman. Lead designer Cliff Bleszinski confirmed that the character Carmine would be returning, but did not reveal how or in what capacity as Carmine was killed in the original Gears of War.

They include Chairman Prescott, the near dictatorial military leader of COG; Tai Kaliso, "a spiritual and meditative warrior from a tradition of honor bound fighters;" and Dizzy Wallin, a former Stranded who joined the COG in order to keep his family safe. Dominic's wife Maria also makes an appearance, and Dominic's search for her plays an important part in the story. Marcus Fenix locked in a chainsaw duel with the leader of the Kantus monks, Skorge.

With the COG army continuing to lose large numbers to Locust raids, the COG plan a counter-attack against the Locust by sending troops in Grindlifts deep below the surface to attack the home of the Locust, the Hollow. Though they suffer losses due to the leader of the Kantus monks, Skorge, the human forces continue their plan.

After their descent, Delta squad, consisting of Marcus Fenix, Michael Crnkovic and Benjamin Carmine, later joined by Augustus Cole, begin to search the Hollow and discover that the Locust are taking prisoners, as they managed to save Damon Baird from imprisonment.

Though Marcus tries to arm Tai for a fight, Tai instead commits suicide, the physical and emotional trauma too much for him to bear. Delta squad continues to search the Hollow and discovers that the Locust are using a giant Riftworm to eat away at the rock structures at the outskirts of Jacinto in hopes of sinking it into the ground. They try to evacuate, but are swallowed by the Riftworm. The squad manages to kill the worm from the inside, but Carmine is killed by parasites.

Delta squad manages to escape to the surface only to be given orders to investigate a nearby abandoned COG outpost where they encounter experimented creatures and learn of a back door entrance to the Hollow in the nearby Kadar Mountains. The team fights its way to the caverns in a Centaur tank and discovers that some Stranded have taken shelter near the entrance.

Marcus orders Cole and Baird to evacuate the Stranded while he and Dominic search further. They find more prisoner cages and Dominic convinces Marcus to help him seek his wife. They manage to find her, but the Locust torture has left her too traumatized and unable to communicate, so Dominic chooses to euthanize her. They discover that the Locust have messages from Adam Fenix, Marcus' father, that suggests an alternate way of ending the war, in case they can't take out the queen; to sink Jacinto in order to let water flood the Hollow and wipe out the Locust.

They learn from the Locust queen herself that she is pursuing the same plan not only to wipe out the humans, but to also destroy lambent Locust that have been exposed to Imulsion and are attempting to overthrow the queen. Marcus realizes that humans must sink Jacinto first, before the Locust mobilize and escape to the surface. Delta squad escapes the Hollow on a pair of Reavers, defeating Skorge and his Hydra, and then return to Jacinto where a mass evacuation is underway.

The COG have decided that they can sink Jacinto using a Lightmass bomb and Delta squad is ordered to clear debris out of the way in the main sink hole, allowing a helicopter to safely transport the bomb into the caverns.

Marcus orders Cole and Baird to assist with the bomb, while he and Dom manage to kill a Brumak driver, hijack the Brumak, and use it to arrive at the Hollow and fulfill their objective.

As the helicopters arrive, the Brumak, exposed to high levels of Imulsion, begins to mutate. As it changes, it attacks the helicopter transporting the bomb, which falls into the Imulsion. With the Lightmass bomb lost, Marcus comes up with a plan that includes killing the lambent Brumak as a replacement for the bomb. He uses the Hammer of Dawn to kill the Brumak, which explodes, taking out the last supporting structures of Jacinto which sink it, flooding the Hollow with water.

As the COG forces and civilians evacuate, a voiceover of the Locust queen talks about unintended legacies. The first official Gears of War 2 trailer shown at the Game Developers Conference showing Marcus executing a Locust with a lancer. Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski has done several interviews to highlight improvements to the game. Heavy netcode optimization has been done to negate the host advantage problem in the first title [20] and hundreds of tweaks have gone into improving the cover system and movement.

Maathyas , 05 Jan 06 Jan 17 Sep As of 17 Sept , this list incorrect. Confirmed by FMA Wrath Note the map cycle may change during the next weekend event. Thanks also to all who have contributed to previous lists. If there are further updates, please let me know.

Please do not leave a negative comment if you're not into boosting. I'm just trying to help people who want to get this fast. You'd need: - 4 people including yourself , each with second controllers - to leave your xbox on while you're away Play: - Social Xbox Live - Annex Decide on who'd get the achievement first.

Out of the three persons who're not, two should login with their second controllers as guests at the main menu. The person without a guest should start a lobby and invite the two of them to make it a team of five punching bags. Start the game and inform all in the party of the loaded map.

Now, the person who's getting the achievement should form a team of five, which should include four bots. If the map isn't correct, simply quit and re-search. When all are in the same game, leave your xbox on, turn off your TV, and all can now go do their own things. With a team of five dummies vs a team of one dummy plus four insane bots, it's pretty obvious who'd win the rounds. This makes it impossible for any randoms to disrupt the boosting.

Based on my experience, the team with four bots takes on average minutes to win a map. Meaning it'd take about five to seven hours for the bots to win on all the maps for the person who's getting the achievement. Once the 60 points are drained from a ring, it will disappear and reappear, unclaimed, at another location. The round ends when the pre-determined number of points is attained by one team. These rings always appear on spawn locations of weapons, and the HUD display will reflect which weapon spot the ring is at the weapon image in the circle on your HUD.

This little circle on the HUD actually gives you a lot more information than that: the direction the Annex ring is from your location the arrow ; who is currently winning points the color ; and how many points are left to win the number. Know a given map's weapon locations see our Maps section and you'll be able to quickly move to the new spot when it appears.

Once you capture a ring you can leave and take up a good position to defend it - it's a good idea to leave a grenade behind as a booby trap, just in case. Also, it's a good idea to mine known ring spots weapon spawn locations if you have a spare Frag Grenade, since the location will likely switch to that spot and you may as well get the jump on the opposing team. You can capture rings when you are bleeding out, so some quick crawling can make all the difference!

Once your team captures a ring, you can take up a snipe point while your points accrue, or hide on a corner with a shotgun -- anything to keep the enemy at bay. The ring can go back and forth several times until its points are drained. When the chime starts, that means the last several points are being accrued before a victory. Everyone will respawn indefinitely in this mode. Classic King of the Hill rules apply here: there's a ring that's the "hill" in one place - a weapon location as indicated by the compass on your HUD.

You'd do well to learn these locations for maps so you can get to them as fast as possible. At least one member of your team must remain in the Hill once it's captured or you lose it. While in possession of the hill, your team will win a point per second. The person in the hill can be bleeding out - it doesn't matter. You can even capture a hill whilst bleeding out. You may want to leave the hill to take a defensive point, but you should coordinate that with your team.

If you down enemies near your hill, consider not killing them unless they will be revived or enter your ring. This is because they will just respawn and come anew, so you might as well rack up some points in peace while they bleed out. Conversely, if you are bleeding out near a ring, head for it, you never know what may happen - you could be the one to retake the ring. Basic strategy applies to defending the ring, remain in cover, conserve ammo, and stick close to your team so they can revive you.

The first team to the set number of points wins -- a chime will sound for the last few points. So don't go it alone. In Horde mode, you'll be confronted by all manner of sub-boss Locust. Each wave is harder than the last due to increasing numbers and added types of enemies. Although there are 50 waves total, there are actually only 10 waves of enemies that repeat 5 times. Each set of 10 waves progressively heaps bonuses on the enemies though, improving their Accuracy, Health and Damage, and making them that much more formidable.

The first few levels will feature Wretches, Drones and Grenadiers, in addition to various Boomers, like Butchers which melee attack. Added in for the mid-levels are Flame Grenadiers, classic Boomers, Kantus with Ink grenades and explosive Tickers that count as kills , Sires the difficult to kill zombies and Theron Guards with Torque Bows. The final wave adds in Bloodmounts the Grenadiers riding monsters. The best strategy for Horde is to get as many people together as possible to fight - going it alone just isn't a viable option.

Take advantage of this unique co-op mode by taking on the horde with a group of people and you'll find it more satisfying - and less brutally difficult. Horde is all about letting the enemies come to you. That doesn't mean you shouldn't have a sniper. Luckily, wherever you hole up, ammo for the Longshot and Torque Bow will have a tendency of finding its way to you, due to the bum rushing Locust.
